Recipe: 5 Popular Japanese Kiwi Popsicles

Ah, the taste of an ice cold Popsicle on a hot afternoon. Many parents long for ways to trick their kids into eating healthier and homemade Popsicles might be just the trick. Unlike the high sugar content found in store bought Popsicles, Japanese Kiwi Popsicles are much healthier and all natural. Even more important, they serve as easy and fun ways to show your kids how to make healthy food that they will love to eat.
Japanese Kiwi Popsicles are simply pure blended fruit, frozen to make a delicious treat that can satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth on a hot afternoon. To make them, you simply blend fruit together until it turns into an almost smoothie like consistency. Then, you poor it into a Popsicle mold and freeze it until it turns into a tasty frozen treat on a stick.
Here are five of the top Japanese Kiwi Popsicle recipes to tingle your taste buds.
1. Cantaloupe and Kiwi – This Popsicle turns a fun color of orange for the bright summer months and refreshes every palatte with is creamy texture from the melon and kiwi mixture. To make this favorite, simply puree approximately half of a cantaloupe, 2 kiwis and add ¾ cup limeade and 4 tablespoons of simple syrup. To turn this into an adult treat, add a half a cup of rum. Freeze these for approximately 2 hours and you will have a treat to enjoy.
2. Lime and Kiwi – For a tangy treat on a hot day try eliminating the melon and just mixing lime and kiwi. To do this, combine 1 cup of water together with 1 cup of sugar. Bring it to a small simmer until it forms syrup. Set this aside to cool and in a large bowl combine 4 pureed kiwis, and the juice of approximately four limes. Add ¾ cup water and the syrup, then mix and freeze. These popsicles will need to stay frozen for 6 hours before enjoying.
3. Kiwi-Lime Popsicles with a Twist – If you like a little bit of spice, and want to add an ingredient that will make you and your family have a healthier stomach, make these with the added subtle spice of ginger. To do this, 1 1/3 cups of water, 2/3 cup of sugar and 1 teaspoon of freshly grated lime zest and 1 teaspoon of freshly grated ginger. Bring this to a boil until it forms syrup, and then set it to the side. Slice two kiwis very thinly and add them to the Popsicle molds. Then, pour the syrup mixture over the kiwi slices in the Popsicle molds and allow them to freeze for about an hour. To add extra green color, simply use a few drops of food coloring.
4. Strawberry and Kiwi – A classic combination on a summer day is the taste of strawberry and kiwi together. Because these two fruits are so opposite in taste, they actually complement each other quite nicely when served together. To make these into a Popsicle, simply puree 2 kiwis with 2 cups of strawberries. Then, add the thick mixture to a Popsicle mold and freeze overnight.
5. Pineapple Kiwi Popsicles – For sweet and tangy, try this unique blend. Simply puree 1 ½ pineapple juice together with 4 kiwis. If you like your Popsicles a little bit sweeter, simply add in sugar, honey or the sweetener of your choice to taste, approximately 1 teaspoon. Then, freeze these for approximately 6 hours and enjoy.
